Fresh Friday

Today I went to the Big C to pick up another bamboo ‘hat’.  They are much more comfortable than the cotton ones and feel cooler in this hot weather so I had asked Jean from Frobishers to bring one over to Norwich on her weekly visit.  of course, now I have two cool hats (in terms of temperature as well as style 😉 ) and the weather has broken!

We have had lashings of cool quenching rain falling softly all afternoon.  I think I had the best nap I’ve had in weeks… the fresh air and rhythm of the drops was like a lullaby. I can’t get over how well I am feeling now.  I have some nausea still but nothing like after the last session.

I have had some thoughts creeping in about the next phase.  Now that we are 2/3 of the way through ‘The Plan’, my control freakery is kicking in with the ‘what then?’ question.  What happens when the chemo is over, what will the plan be then?  I am managing it though.  We have an appointment with Dr Alexander on August 25th, the week before my final chemo session so I can focus on that as the point to begin planning the next phase.

Until then, my mantra remains, Hydration, Nutrition and Exercise!

Talk to you soon

Lots of love Mand xxx

  1. Well, when I was feeling rather helpless about you being so far away and wondered how we could help, I thought of the amount of help you and Phil have had from the Big C centre and thought a coffee morning might be a good idea to raise some funds for them. I had no idea how just how supportive everyone would be, it was overwhelming to have offers of crafts, cakes, raffle prizes, donations and course, your absolutely amazing bunting! This morning arrived, the sun shone, folk came, we all chatted drank coffee and were having a jolly good time, then I heard a familiar little voice asking if there was any cake. I cannot tell you how thrilled everyone was to see you and Phil, no one more than me! So we all enjoyed the morning and managed to raise the absolutely amazing sum of £720.00. ? I am so thrilled and very grateful to everyone who has contributed in any way. It is yet another reflection of how proud we all are of you. Love you xxx

  2. Well done Mand’s mum! That’s an amazing sum to raise. And well done Mand for getting there in a week 1 – you are truly refusing to let any aspect of this thing beat you. I love your ‘Hydration, Nutrition and Exercise’ -we should all be doing that!
    Lots of love

  3. May I just say that the highlight of yesterday morning was to see this beautiful bubbly lady (with the most amazing hair) join us. Not a dry eye in the house!
You are such an inspiration Mand, to make that journey so close to your treatment. You are truly amazing.
    Keep it up!
    Much love. ?

  4. Yes, it was a surprise nevertheless thrill to see you Mand & Phil at the coffee morning. To be honest, it was an honour to be involved with this for your mum. As the saying goes ” together we are strong”. By the way I have just discovered that today is International Friendship day.
On a personal note, we are in Cambridge this weekend for the Folk Fest & catching up with 3 of our kids & their partners so let’s hope the weather holds fine as we will be in a tent for a couple of nights!
Thinking of you and sending you our very best wishes. K&Pxx
